The way to victory
Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving to themselves. James 1:22.
Much has been said about the Olympics. The olpimpicos games are highly anticipated and quite exciting. It's great to watch a champion in action. We like to see resilience and victory of our athletes. We were very excited when, there on the podium in front of the flag and the national anthem, our athlete shows all your joy and happiness. We feel very proud that they are winners. In a sense we're a bit winners with them as they carry something in common with us: love of country.
However, a champion, a feedback athlete is not born from night to day. Today's victory was once the beginner and the loser of yesterday. Who, today, are getting the coveted laurel wreath has not always been honored and recognized as a champion.
I wonder what contributes to these athletes are winners and champions?
Many factors contribute to the formation of a champion. Among many factors can not be denied that the constant training, which are put into practice all the theory and tactics learned, the strong desire and discipline of each athlete are extremely important for the preparation and achievement of the long-sought victory.
Similarly happens with our spiritual life. Our God tells us to not just be hearers of the Word of God. We should listen to it, keep it in our hearts and practice it. Many must say, but this is very difficult! How am I going to do this?
It is not easy even. The fight is great. So we can not rely solely on our thoughts and strength, our victory depends not only on us. We are weak and sinful. We only want to do our will. Our flesh insists on controlling our lives. So we must support us and ask for help from God to teach us how to live and put into practice, its true and transforming Word of Love.
We all know very well what are the inclinations of our flesh. Certainly, our flesh will always be subject to fall to the other end of God. Knowing that we are continually tempted and we do not have the strength to follow the path we should follow. So it is important to continually pray to God and ask Him that in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, He will teach us to walk in their straight paths and not in our crooked ways.
Such practice is very important for those who truly want to be a person after the heart of God. The Apostle Paul taught us which is our condition in this game of life:
because we know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I do not understand it; because what I want, so I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. And if what I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. But now no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. Because I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing; for to will is present with me, but the effect you are not. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law in me that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. Because after the inward man, I delight in God's law; but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So myself to serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. – Romans 7:14 25
It's amazing how our weakness before the sin that overflows in our lives. On the other hand we feel much stronger and more normal seeing a man so blessed as the Apostle Paul was not immune to this same relentless action of sin. We make no mistake never to be thinking all about control because the combat is constant and the enemy of God does not give us respite:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may stand against the wiles of the Devil; it is not against flesh and blood that we wrestle, but against principalities, against powers, tells the princes of this dark world and against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand firm, then, having your loins girt about with truth, and put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and for watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints – Ephesians 6: 10-18
Owe no man anything, but to love; for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. Indeed shalt not commit adultery; Do not kill, Do not steal, not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbor. So love is the fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the time, that it is time to awake out of sleep; because our salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand; dispamo us therefore the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ; and make not provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. – Romans 13: 8-14
So it was with the great Apostle Paul, and we will be no different. Paul comforts us and gives us an excellent way we fight this terrible reality: serve God, listen, and practice His Word with sincerity, perseverance and love.
Only then we shall take precedence in our lives, not our will but the will of the Lord Jesus Christ, the one who did not sin. The only one who was able to humble the flesh, sin and the father of sin and Powerfully, did prevail to God's will over the will of the flesh. So our God exalted him above every name and gave him all honor and power.
The Gloriso and Victorious Lord Jesus Christ, all honor, glory and power.
A big hug and be with God.
