Psalm 118 – God is good

Psalm 118 - God is good

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
Say, for Israel: that his mercy endureth for ever.
Say, therefore, the house of Aaron, that his mercy endureth for ever. Say, for those who fear the Lord: that his mercy endureth for ever. Out of my distress I called upon the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me in a place largo.O Lord is for me will not be afraid; that can man do to me? The Lord is for me among those who help me; therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. All nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They surrounded me like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns; In the name of the Lord will destroy them. Thrust sore at me that I might fall, but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and my song; It has become my salvation.
In the tents of the righteous joyful song of victory; the Lord's right hand doeth valiantly. The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD does valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over unto death.
Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord; which the righteous shall enter. I thank thee because thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders rejected has become the capstone. It was the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. O Lord, save, we beseech thee; O Lord, we beseech thee, send now prosperity. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; house of the Lord bless you. The Lord is God and has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. Your word. – Psalm 118

For many people God is only good when they can buy a new home, when they can buy the coveted new car, when they can take that trip, when they get that dream job, when they marry, when the child is born healthy and strong, when they receive the cure of a serious illness … Anyway when things go well or when they receive the benefits of God.

However, when the candy begins to unravel … Then the business picture changes. God is no longer that good … Some say God is cruel … God is indifferent … and other despair once and end up denying God!.

Of course it is great to get what is best in life. Who does not? The problem is we can not, and must not link the gain or not of any benefit to our faith in God.

Our human condition is very complicated. We have a tendency to turn in only that which gives us pleasure. If you do not give pleasure and joy I do not like not to talk about it. The more stay close to the said person.

With God all things are very different. We can not forget that our Lord Jesus Christ emptied himself of his divinity and came among us as man to show us that the simplicity, the humility, the pain and suffering for God may have another meaning.

Jesus suffered terrible pain and suffering soon after Him, when He was resurrected He was glorified and exalted by God the Father. Jesus left us this living testimony that, however great our trials, pain and suffering here on this earth, nothing compares to the joy that we will have eternal life with Him.

So let us ask God that He will give us the gift of humility, acceptance and faithfulness to Him so we can receive and withstand all that is in store for us.

Prayer:

Lord God the Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, from the bottom of my heart I declare that no matter be experiencing problems or not, for me, the Lord will always be good.

A big hug and be with God
